|
|
Nowadays with labels like NWN it's becoming commonplace for special editions with something beyond the vinyl + cover like patches, stickers, posters, die cuts, even t shirts etc.
So what are some interesting extras/gimmicks from older metal LPs?
There is the GISM M.A.N. LP from 1987 with the printed outer sleeve that combines with the cover art:
And of course this cute little guy:
What are some more? (With pics if possible) |

| Church Of Misery has a stand up presentation of mass murderers when you open the gatefold of the lp.I think it is called a die cut or something. |

Here's another one from Japanese pop metal band Action!
Includes reflective stickers, cardboard cut outs of each member, printed dust jacket, flexi disc with additional sleeve, a calender (perhaps relating to Action! events/concerts?), poster, 2 sided lyrics sheet, and sheet of rub off transfer stickers. This is Action kit #2, I don't have a picture of #1.
Another one is the Carcass "blood" filled IV bag that went out to record stores (did not come with the actual record). I have one in my attic somewhere but no pics. |

| I think one of the coolest gimmicks was the Nunslaughter "An Evening at War" LP with 100 individual hand drawn covers. |

It would be funny to see these covers in chronological order from #1 being like a pretty cool drawing that took some time to #100 being a stick person holding an upside-down cross |

| On the subject of condom as extras, I work for a video company that specializes in 70s porn. We used to send out condoms with every order, and the gag was they were all ancient and each was stamped "best if used by 1979". |
