Absurd? Seriously? I guess two bands have to sound identical to be discussed in the same post? Gimme a break.
Anyway I wasn't really comparing them in great detail, just noting that of all the bands lumped into this silly nidrosian hype machine(regardless of where they're from), Vemod is the only one I like or have any interest in really.

Yes, it is. Both bands play black metal, obviously (even if Vemod prefer to call their style by another tag), but they're worlds apart in terms of mood, style, intent etc. nonetheless.
Of course, if Vemod are viewed as part of a conglomerate of bands, i. e. the so-called Nidrosian scene, then it is fair enough to state one's preference of one band over the other; although I'd go as far as to say that this wouldn't be all too direct a comparison (rejection of which my initial post was about) of, say in this case, Mare and Vemod. |

What "silly hype machine"? I don't think Terratur or the other Nidrosian labels (Nordkult, Fossbrenna) can be accused of hyping their releases. They don't make dubious claims about the quality of the music or use overly-dramatic promotion to exaggerate what they're offering. The music simply sells itself to those who like it.
Perhaps you're confusing 'hype' with 'enjoyed by quite a lot of people'?

Not really. I'm not referring to anything that Terratur or any label does at all. Rather I'd say the hype machine is this board. The hyperbolic praise for Nidrosian releases surely equals a bit of hype. Of course this isn't hype in the same sense as mass media hype or something (after all this isn't some kanye west record or whatever the fuck). When I say "hype" i mean verbal enthusiasm that causes other people to check out an album. I would never have checked out Mare or Dodsengel without reading about them here.
Again, people enjoy whatever music they enjoy. I was just posting about my enthusiasm for Vemod and how I was pleasantly surprised at how great they are after generally being disappointed in other acts under that banner.

I think the objection is more to your choice of phrase ("silly hype machine", which implies intent) than the actual sentiment.
