PROFANER from Lima – Peru are offering their 2nd official demotape now for sale. This 4 song tape reeks the filthy excrements of, simply as we love it, old school Death Metal. This may sound silly, but PROFANER really do something correct. I mean, the guitar solos are definitely not worth mentioning; the sound itself is not in high studio quality nor up to date; the riffs are everything else but new and the whole tape is unoriginal to the bone. But I hear the crushing spirit of old DEATH, MASTER, AUTOPSY (the pumping bass is amazing), IMPETIGO (here and there) and NECROPHAGIA in those 4 songs. Even old CATHEDRAL and good ol’ PARADISE LOST (really old PARADISE LOST to be honest) are hearable from time to time. I’m not sure if this unoriginality justifies the 6 USD + shipping the tape sells from Putrescense Records, the songs however justify a very good review in an old fashioned old school online fanzine as Voices From The Darkside. I impute that most readers here are interested in this old shit and PROFANER did a very good job with this 2nd demotape. I haven’t heard anything from them before, but I’m sure this won’t be the last time I will be spending good times while listening to their songs. Among those 4 songs you hear (damned fucking original – attention!) some intros and outros with screaming women and stuff like that. All that shit old 80s horror movies made them so attractive to us when we finally discovered them on 5th copy of a 5th copy videotape, preferred in English language with Dutch subtitles, haha. OK, this might be a German insider joke. You know, those movies were not officially available in Germany during those times and therefore you had to get the Dutch versions. As internet was not even invented for the public at those times everything was little slower and harder to get, but as soon as you had those things you loved them even more and they stayed in your mind for a long time. Not such hectic times as today. And those times are fresh again when listening to those ~21 minutes of Death Metal on this fuckin’ old fashioned tape (a format not really common these days anymore…).
