Not a metal band in any way shape or form (so hopefully i dont get banned for this)
Carl McCoy is a musical genious hands down, Elizium has got to be one of the best albums ever recorded. They really put to shame all the lame "goth" bands that came out around that era. Plus you gotta love the occult symbolism the band used through out the years.
I've heard a new album is in the works... stoked. |

FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM is one of my all time favorite bands.
Their entire discography in my opinion is excellent!! |

Really one of the greatest bands ever. Elizium is a masterpiece but I have played it way too many times and it tends to just be tiresome and depressing to listen to now (though that was why I liked it so much in the first place, one of the deepest and darkest things I've heard). Their first EP, second full length and Psychonaut 12" are essential too imo, with other worthwhile bits and pieces scattered around the discography. I also really dig some stuff from the Nefilim era e.g Shine which is just a killer song in the best FOTN style.
I'm not very interested in anything they do now. FOTN was much more than just McCoy, those old records wouldn't be anywhere near as good without the original lineup of Pettit, Wright, Yates and Wright who clearly had some magic chemistry. Saw the current version a year or so ago and while it was good, it was nowhere near the likes of what you can hear on Earth Inferno. |

| For sure. It's true you can't beat the classic line up. Those first 3 albums for me are unbeatable. |

Only heard Elizium, which I love. Really great album in every way. Gotta put it on now. Is any of their other albums similiar to it? _________________ Todays modern science is your modern religion. |

Great band, from the albums I only own Dawnrazor which is great and just lent Elizium and Fallen from my dad. Elizium is great as well, Fallen isn't bad either, but that style isn't as good as the old works.
The Earth Inferno live DLP is another fantastic piece!
Some of their tracks give me goosebumps nearly everytime I hear them. |

The Nephilim is similar in that you can hear hints of that sound starting to appear, but its much more a collection of individual songs instead of Elizium which for better or worse is best experienced in full. |

Absolutely one of my fave bands of all time.
Very "Metal" band for a Non-Metal band indeed!
Great image, sound, lyrics, vocals etc.
I also love the various spin off bands like RUBICON as well.
I wish Carl and the original members would do a true reunion, but I would even settle for Carl and 4 dudes to play in America at this point!!! _________________ We Are Satan's Generation And We Don't Give A Fuck! |

ZOON is a masterpiece indeed! I really don't think they have a weak album per say I mean the first ep BURNING THE FIELDS was killer and then from there it just got better and better. ELIZIUM is the high peak for them indeed it's one of the best albums ever in my opinion and the atmosphere is what makes the key ingredient. I could go on and on about one of the best bands ever...
If anyone needs any recommendations or where to start with them just ask away. |
