i agree with everything in this post.
confusion is sex and evol are the best in my opinion. i think there is merit to all sy albums through washing machine. i havent really given the more recent albums a lot of attention. i probably should.
re: thurston and black metal...he has always sort of latched onto emerging bands and scenes. theres a certain egotistical manner in which he does that that irks me. i mean, on the one hand he has helped give a lot of bands attention, but it alwasy seems like he is doign so out of his own desire to be the one who "discovered" that band (i.e. nirvana etc). but i regard him highly for his own contribution to music.

| I was just talking to someone about how I am suprised he wasnt in a black metal band already. Sonic Youth has put out some of my favorite records and have enjoyed them through their entire career, not just early stuff. Sonic Nurse is probably my favorite SY album. Great, complex, melodic guitar work that I think would appeal to many metal fans. |
