Can't believe there's no appreciation thread for one of the best speed metal bands ever. No need for polls here as it's obvious that the first album is their peak, nonetheless a consistently good discography with the exception of two or may be three albums. Waters is hands down one of the most gifted metal musicians I've ever heard, guy is a fucking riff machine and I still can't understand why this band never made it really big -the potential on Alice in Hell was huge to say the least. _________________ Permabanned |

Consistenty ok discography I'd say, but I do think his post-Never Neverland albums deserve more recognition. Criteria For A Black Widow is his most underrated release out of these imo, I have no opinion on the latest one but the previous two didn't do much.. _________________ Sic transit gloria mundi |

| Waters is a superb musician and riff-writer for sure, but the inherent silliness in a lot of their music really put me, and a lot of others I know, off their music. I'm not massively familiar with the discography, but he seemed to always make too many stop-start riffs with silly endings/time changes/melodies, etc. |

Admittedly that might be the problem with some of the post-Criteria stuff. I guess the man must have been listening to Pantera a lot from the mid/late '90ies onwards. _________________ Permabanned |

Like the first 2, especially Alice, but after that... _________________ "Ice Dale!" - Abbath |

Same opinion, but I like 3rd album too. After that I've lost my interest in this band. |

Never Neverland is better than Alice imo. I think what I don't really like about newer Annihilator albums is Padden's vocals. The guy is a good singer, but not for thrash metal and definitely not for this kind of band. _________________ Sic transit gloria mundi |

Being from Canada might be one of the reasons.
Having unsteady lineup, especially changing vocalists for every album didn't help either.
I still wonder how a Megadeth album would sound like with Jeff's contribution if he got the job back in the day. But most likely it would be a clash of personalities and it wouldn't go anywhere. |

I have the first two albums, but hardly ever play them. Don't think i want to hear anything else by the band. _________________ "If noise means uncomfortable sound. Then pop is noise to me" - Masami Akita. |

I really like Annihilator. Sometimes the silliness works against the music, but I find a lot of the weird time jumps and strange melodic stuff pretty unique. Jeff is a stupid good guitarist.
Weird that he never got much recognition in Canada. We seem to have a lot of artists that are sort of iconic in Canada; but aren't really known at all anywhere else. Annihilator seems to be very popular in Europe though. |

Alice in Hell is the only worthy album. At least for me. Seen live in 2007 as opening for Trivium (!), which wasn't too bad. _________________
