At first I was missing Nord's vocals, but I have to admit he offers quite an outstanding performance. It really fits with with the new style. The only question mark this album brings me is the song Undead Moon. It's not a bad song by any means, but it is just drastically different from the rest of the album. It's really quite a change of mood. I guess it would make sense from a LP point of view: it would end the first side. But as far as I know they haven't even talked about a LP release...
Anyway, time will tell. |

Tiamtu sounded like Mika was confused and straddling the line between his old black metal style and some death metal-ish leanings, and as a result ended up relatively weak, imo.
Thaumiel sees a far bigger leap into death metal, and the material sounds a lot more confident (hence the "bravado" the band is supposed to represent, hehe) and well-written. It ain't no Mysterion Tes Anomias, but it's more enjoyable than the last. |

After one listen through, I really like this album; seems like a grower. Highlights are the first track and "Undead Moon" so far. Unique-sounding album. I can do without the re-recording of "Chained to Redemption" though. _________________ Great traders/sellers: GoldenBull, Ivan the terrible, OA, LifeDepraved, maranatha, newincident, 61514, Korpinen, NuclearGoatVomit, global deathrape, s. charlach, madcow, xyosefx, goatcaft, Blutkvlt, Ironwood, Unholy Horde, Wolfsturm888, Pinhas |

Wait a minute... this isn't that bad. Far better than Ofermod's live performances in the past. _________________

ofermod seem to suffer live in the same way ondskapt does, and I am thankful that funeral mist never chose to play live, eventhough I suspect the performance would be much better than both the aformentioned bands. _________________ : TOTAL DEATH FROM THE SETIAN VOID : |

Wow, that was really good. FAR better than the overdone Pope hat crap. _________________ Great traders/sellers: GoldenBull, Ivan the terrible, OA, LifeDepraved, maranatha, newincident, 61514, Korpinen, NuclearGoatVomit, global deathrape, s. charlach, madcow, xyosefx, goatcaft, Blutkvlt, Ironwood, Unholy Horde, Wolfsturm888, Pinhas |

| I got this album in the mail a couple of days ago. Not sure what to think of it though. Could turn out to be great or not so great, but at this point I have no idea. |

| I heard this record a couple of times and forgot it. I prefer to continue listening to Tiamtü |

I thought the exact same opposite. I think I've listened to Tiamtü ONCE since I've listened to Thaumiel. Thaumiel is superior in every shape and form. It's more musically advanced, much more inspired, much more interesting and truly has a profound esoteric aura around it.
I love every bit of this album. I think the re-recording of Chained to Redemption is simply exceptional. And I'm quite far from the Ofermod fanboy. I always loved the EP (except Rape the World), but thought Tiamtü was a little bit underwhelming and was really not expecting much from this album. I thought it would be a boring piece of over-used Morbid Angel-esque riffs coupled with a few unoriginal BM riffs. Quite far from the truth, in fact.
But I don't expect this album will be revered by the general audiance. It's quite an opening of the musical scheme and thus it will undoubtly be met with general contempt. |

And after a few hundred listens I dare to say that this is one of the best albums of 2012, maybe the best. _________________
