| i never really took the time to delve into this style - my ideal record would be something that kind of sounds like "show no mercy"...another record i heard recently that i love is powerlord's "the awakening" so stuff like that is preferred...i'm already aware of stuff like bulldozer, exciter, helloween etc. |

Not really close to "Show No Mercy" but you might want to check out Metal Church and Anvil for great powerful metal.

New "power" metal is gay as fuck and should be avoid like aids. There are of course exceptions like the brilliant Axemaster: Windrider and the likes. |

SLOUGH FEG although they are more traditiona heavy metal in my book (or "epic") but it can fit what you need.
STORMWARRIOR more speed metal, but very good copy of early HELLOWEEN.
LOST HORIZON is killer. PHARAOH is also good.
In my book power metal is supposed to be like a melodic speed metal band.
Nowadays power metal is, fluffy metal, most of the time. Still, searching deep, some good things rise.

RUNNING WILD!!! Don't listen to the people that say that only their first 2 LPs are good. They have lots of KILLER records. The best ones are:
Under Jolly Roger
Port Royal
Death Or Glory (especially the first track..... speed metal perfection!)
Black Hand Inn
Masquerade

This is a bit narrow minded opinion. Itīs like listening to a new SATYRICON album and thinking all Black Metal is like this !
Listen to Ride the Sky or Judas to get some good HELLOWEEN.
I do like Future World, regardless if itīs a bit gay. Old JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT and many others had some gay songs as well and thatīs just how it was back then.

Agreed, thereīs no real shitty RUNNING WILD album, I consider Masquerade as one of my faves as itīs one of the heaviest RW albums too. The TV advert of that album made me fucking crazy back then, it had the Opening Riff of Black Soul and a dark deep voice saying......
No Dance........
No Disco........
Just pure fucking Rockīn Roll.......
As for Power metal, listen to GRAVE DIGGER - Heart of Darkness or The Reaper Albums, or RAGEīs The missing Link and if you still want to seriously tell me this is gay music youīre deaf or just a poser. |
