So lastly I almost dont drive my car anymore and with its tape deck this is where I was listening to my tapes.
Henceforth, where and how was I supposed to listen to all them glorious demo tapes?
Downloading?
Hundreds of tapes to download would´ve been such a hassle... Besides some tapes I have are very rare and consequently VERY hard to find on blogspot and such
Walkman. Of course. I had an old fat Aiwa half broke. So I wanted a sleek one, with their cleansed design, slim and with electric buttons.
Off to eBay then. Only to discover that some dudes COLLECT WALKMANS. And there are some fucking awesome ones too made by SONY, AIWAI and PANASONIC with their sweet metallic bodies. Some high-end audiophile walkmans as good as professional tape desks. Some special editions/collectors 10th anniversary bullocks... These can go for $200 to $500.
Yeah, $500 for a cassette walkman... Forums about walkman with dudes posting pics of their SONY collection, ´bout 80 walkmans etc
Rings a bell?
Anyway, how many of you still have/use a motherfucking walkman? _________________ DISJECTA MEMBRAE plays Vomitive Doom

On Ebay you can find, with a lil bit of luck, some regular in good shape Walkmans for $2. If you're not after killer models or the legendary SONY WM DD9, $5 walkmans are all over the place _________________ DISJECTA MEMBRAE plays Vomitive Doom

Still own both the WMs I used back in the day. Not sure if they're still working as I haven't listened to a tape in 10+ years. _________________ Thread derailed

I still own Sony WM-EX190 MEGA BASS but it's not that old. I have used it 2 yrs ago last time.
I also have have Sony CD WALKMAN D-EJ361. I use it much more often... but I need to get rechargable batteries somewhere. _________________ Reliable traders/sellers/buyers: s.charlach, Paria, Ironwood

My last walkman died a couple of years ago, no need for a new one since I hardly use public transport anymore and my house has tapedecks in most rooms. Used a walkman a lot, everyday on the bicycle every day for two hours for four years, and after that in the bus for seven years every day for 2+ hours and got strange looks when reversing or switching tapes or batteries haha. _________________

I have an ipod because I'm not a spastic.
If I want to listen to a demo I listen it on a tape deck at home. |

Yeah still have one from the late 90's. I went through loads back then but this model has lasted - mainly because I wasn't using it for years but I use it all the time now, especially in winter cos it fits into a heavy coat pocket easily when out walking. I guess if you live in a hot climate using a walkman is less attractive....
I got an ipod as a present a few years ago, and I have about 20 classic albums on it but hardly ever use it now. What am I supposed to do? Every time I get a cd load it into the computer, then hook up the ipod to the computer and try and transfer the album onto the iPod??? fuck that. I couldn't figure out how to add and/or remove single albums in place of another album either. Must be a shit early iPod designed to only last 6 months so you have to buy a new one - like every 'advancement' these days. All this 'playlist' bullshit and 'configurations'. Fuck that. The walkman is a simpler and cleaner listening experience for me. Bring the one or two tapes I need for whatever journey i'm on and thats it. No need for 10,000 songs or whatever you hear people having. The same kind of people I guess that spend their spare time jabbing their finger at their ridiculous little 'smart phone'. Ugh |

| Still use my CD walkman when my MP3 player is otherwise incapacitated, haven't had a cassette walkman in years but I know there's one kicking around somewhere. |
