^^^ RocoCop is indeed a classic.

This weekend -

Deadbeat At Dawn
My Sweet Satan
Crime Boss

CB was part of a 15 film box set of Poliziotteschi films from the 70's/80's that I have been slowly churning through, some gems though this was a bit of a snore-fest.

I just saw Noah. As a big fan of Aronofsky and a sucker for apocalyptic films, I enjoyed it a lot. Although it's the furthest departure from the director's trademark themes and style, it was a beautiful glimpse into the antediluvian world. I enjoyed the tributes to Doré's art which were peppered throughout the movie as well.

It's not remarkable as far as story or acting goes, but it certainly thrust me right into the world it was set in for the entire duration of the film.

Just watched Robocop (for the 4th time this year). Anybody else who thinks this movie is a masterpiece? The cocaine factory scene is fucking perfect and the Poledouris music fits ideally. Clarence Boddicker is one of the most underrated movie villains ever. 9/10 for me.

The remake is a major fail btw.

Of course Robocop is a masterpiece, one of the best movies of the 80ies and only challenged by Terminator when it comes to cyborg-brutality.

Kurtwood Smith is great, but also Ronny Cox as über-villain Dick Jones (playing almost the same character as in "Total Recall"). Great cast overall.

10/10, nothing else.

Have a long weekend and watching bunch of movies.

La Vie En Rose - Brilliant performance by Marion Cottilard playing Edith Piaf made me forget how worst her acting in The Dark Knight Rises.

Wadjda - The story centered around young girl in Arab religious policy and how that affected her life.

Death Wish - Charles Bronson fukken rules!

The Machinist - One of the best Bale movie ever.

The Way Way Back - Only want to see Sam Rockwell and Steve Carell act in the same movie and the result is crap.

Criterion reissue of Scanners. The picture looked amazing plus the special features were pretty killer.

Hellraiser with sound off with records playing over it, the absence of sound really draws your attention to how great looking the movie is, way closer to Argento than I first thought, unique and great as it has always been 8/10

I should try that. What did you listen to while you watched it?

Transcendence - mindblowing plot. I love those futuristic scfi movies, but it's quite rare to find really good ones that leave you speachles and get you thinking about our world (the last one was Cloud Atlas).
Monthy Python and the Holy Grail - I watched it a few times before and it always lefts me laughting.
Occulus - I was not able to sleep after that. Great story, but poorly developed. I hope that part two will be filmed.
Feed (2005) - I wish could unsee this.
Memento - another mindblowing fucked up plot. Loved it. Full of twists and suprises.

And I will be watching Frozen and Maleficent this weekend. I havent seen a Disney movie in ages Smile

I watched Occulus last night too, you had trouble sleeping after it? Laughing
I think I had trouble staying awake during it! Razz

Talk about making a modern horror film on a nice shoe string budget. There was very little going on, including anything to actually be afraid of. Phantoms in the mirror that killed your childhood... should have triggered the mirror killer right from the start, and they should have short leash chained themselves to a wall so they could not wander off or far or to the point in front of the mirror. So many stupid plot holes and pointless parts to the film. The only thing I could be afraid of is being dumber after watching it.

Cloud Atlas was cool though.

Occulus is one of the rare horror movies that actually scared me like that -.- to each its own, I guess. Even though the story has many holes in it, every minute of the movie was fucking scary...esp biting in a lightbulb/apple. That image still haunta me.The only real dissapointment was he end. There has to be pt 2, the story got me hooked and I want to know more.
