Breaking Bad rules all. Cranston is so goddamn good. Any time I want to feel REALLY creeped out, I turn off the black metal and go watch the end of "Crawl Space" on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWfK5JyD2bA
As for me, I haven't seen much lately but I did watch the Rifftrax (guys who used to be on MST3K) take on "Bermuda Triangle," a shitty, non-sensical movie with John Huston of all people. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg0qVl7s-Ao We also watched the Rifftrax version of "Red Dawn" which was pretty damn funny too.
I think I'm gonna see "Looper" as soon as it opens. Good sci fi movies are so rare. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

Looper looks pretty good, but I've enjoyed Joseph Gordon-Levitt in almost everything I've seen him in (Notably: 3rd Rock from the Sun, Mysterious Skin and 50-50). |

I tried watching Nashville last week, but couldn't get through the first half hour or so. Which surprised me a great deal -- I usually love American 70's flicks in general, and was expecting great things from Altman.
Are all of Altman's films more or less like Nashville? Is there some other Altman flick I should start with? |
Hmm, The Long Goodbye is a thriller really as its based on one of Raymond Chandler's 'Hard Boiled' Philip Marlowe novels. I thought Short Cuts was great, based around the short stories of Raymond Carver. Its just lots of small stories crossing over into each other basically. I enjoyed it at least but have not seen enough of Altman to suggest where to start. |
Might check out those two, then. Thanks! |

I did give up after the first season, for that exact reason. |

You really should give it another chance... they get past the gangbanger shit bout halfway through the second season and it enters a league of it's own entirely after that.
I can't understand how Aaron Paul (jesse) wins awards. He fucking sucks. He only has two expressions and I just don't buy him as an actor. Then again, friends always claim that he's a good actor because he makes me hate him so much ! _________________

Great film. Totally fucked up and funny to boot. Takashi Miike is a true maverick. Support!
Never saw the Stallone version as I was put off by the fact that the reviews were so fucking poor. This version kills. As a reader of Dredd/ 2000AD as a kid and now in my late 30s, this pretty much measures up to the level of violence and facism encountered in the comics' pages. Great comic book references included too. Hail Hicklenton block. _________________
