Listening to it now! Sounds great so far..love the deep bellows for vocals. Sure better than most other so called DM bands on mainstream metal labels.. Rolling Eyes

a wee review -

Malicious Disfigurement 7"

''What a little ripper! Hailing from the sheer hellhole that is, er, Brighton, Malicious Disfigurement are a very metal band, complete with various hair lengths, denim and the traditional crap band photo on the back (it should have been a collage for extra marks). Influence-wise, I'd probably best not give away my ignorance on the subject as the comparison to Death is lost on me, but I love Carcass and there's plenty of that going on. At the end of the day, this is evil sounding stuff, played very well (great double kickdrum!), with an above average quota of hooks to keep things memorable. This is limited to 300 and is on one of the best and probably most open-minded (they've done a couple of full-on noise LPs for example) punk labels in the UK''

found this review funny.....

MALICIOUS DISFIGUREMENT
’Self-Titled’
TADPOLE
Numbered 282 of 500 yet looking like a bit of a turd, Brighton death metal brutalists Malicious Disfigurement nevertheless satisfying. Sweeping, gothic Morbid Angel intros give way to a steady Malevolent Creation brand of old school chuggery.

Good, nice to see that they are located in CA.

I think the only flaw in the music is that the vocalist uses high vocals for too long sometimes, and that breakdowns are awkwardly thrown in occasionally. Interesting nonetheless. They should put a shirt out with that newer logo.

just got sent this review (funny this is i sent a free copy for helping me out with a record, ha, ha... but a nice little review in the end Very Happy )

Brighton - UK city of punk, something like Brno here in Czech? From thesame city is this death metal pack too. Vinyl showed up in package withtrade stuff I got from Tadpole Records.

To be honest, I don´t like when I received unexpected vinyl, someunwanted gift, something like -- oh I´ve a bunch of these vinyls at homeso here you have one copy for free, because I don´t know what to do itwith them. An EP with band, I never heard before. Another suspicion wasthat label used to do crust / hardcore / punk stuff released death metalband.

So needle is going on the black asphalt. My expectations are pretty lowand I´m thinking about who will be another happy guy with unwanted gift.No way and one! No present for anyone! Holy shit. Old school death metalwhich is good like the darkest hell. Something like old Carcass with alittle bit old Dismember sound, all together mixed with a dark atmosphereof Bolt Thrower recordings. Two raw patches for my dirty raw holes I´veinstead of ears. After first side atom bomb another one si coming fromside B, in the same brutal style like her sister on A side.

From unwanted gift here I have top seveninch of last months. And I´ve ine-mail from Darren / Tadpole Records that I was right. He doesn´t know what to do with death metal EPs like this one, because he´s releasingmostly punk bands. So limited, hand numbered 300 copies are waiting foryou at Tadpole Records or at one nameless distro here in Czech ...

I remember buying this when it was first released but haven't listened to it in a very long while now, gonna go spin it today. Cheers for the unintentional reminder, hah.

Decent but the old school Carcass comparison is way off.
