I just received the From the Entrails to the Dirt set today from El Salvador, but this guy must live in a hut in the jungle, and judging by the vinyls themselves it must have been very humid out there. The vinyls have marks with mould or fungus or something which at first glance looked like fingerprints. Any suggestions how to clean this? Which fluids can I use to wash the vinyls?
Damnit.

This shit has changed my life. 35 bucks and everything gets a good wipe down. It got the skip out of my Varathron LP that I thought was hopeless, it cleaned up some weird avant garde classical LPs my mother in law gave me that had been through a flood and un-dusted a ton of used albums I bought..... Plus you can just buy the fluid in separate bottles once the initial bottle is empty so you don't need to re-buy the brushes.

Your assumption is most likely correct people out there do live in huts made if mud out there and it's hot as fuck but i heard the soap method works wonders never tried it myself though _________________ if you haven't had to drive 2 hours to meet up with some sketchy dude from craigslists to check out his vinyls for sale in his grandmoms sub basement then you aren't truly heavy metal hunting! |

Here's the link, I think ths is what I bought: http://www.lastfactory.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=7&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
It's actually really simple, it comes with a few brushes, you just put a couple drops on the brush, then use the tip of the bottle to distribute the solution evenly over the brush and use a circular motion to clean the LP, then let it dry, and do the other side. Sometimes it takes a couple of cleans depending on how the records are. My mother in law gave me tons of LPs that belonged to her ex husband and some of them had even gotten wet during 20 years of storage in a basement, and they came out looking like new after a few cleans.
And that Varathron LP that came out on Shadowface a few years ago had this one point on Son Of The Moon that just locked and played the same groove until the it was fixed manually, I thought it was a write off until I bought this stuff, after I cleaned it it played perfectly!! That made it totally worth the money in my mind
Plus I bought it from a local hi-fi shop here and they do not sell anything they don't endorse 100%, they are a very reliable dealer who really gives a shit about sound and will not steer you wrong and while I was there buying the solution I found the s/t Killing Joke record in mint condition for $5 in their used bin
Good times..... _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/ngadke |
