This lp is pretty expensive, but seems to be the only official way to listen to MF demos on vinyl.

My question is : are there any bootleg reuniting those (awesome) tracks on vinyl? Of course i'm looking for the same quality and less expensive.

Isn't the lp a bootleg anyway?

Yes. But I have refused to buy any bootleg MF pic disc so far.

There is a fanclub bootleg out there called "Curse Of The Pharaohs". It was released in the middle of the 80s and contains some more tracks, not included on the "Return Of The Vampire" LP. It is a nice addition to get more cool demo tracks on vinyl.
I hope they will decide to release a double album sometimes, including all complete demos in chronological order...

I'm actually surprised it doesn't exist already. Demos tracks like "Burning the cross" or "Return of the vampire" are outstanding!
I think i'll invest in that lp then.

The 80's bootleg also has Hardrocker on it, maybe one more track. I have it somewhere but haven't played the LP for a long time, I'll have to dig it up and see if I am forgetting another one.

The LP includes also the full version of "Mission: Destroy Aliens" without the fade and with a bomb dropping. Two more interesting tracks are the BRATS rehearsal songs from April 1981...this is the only known vinyl source were you can listen to these songs in stereo.

I was under the impression KD was never actually in The Brats and that the Brats sounding stuff with KD prior to MF proper was actually Danger Zone. Is there a reliable list of what songs are Brats vs Danger Zone vs early MF? I don't trust MA on this.

here is some youtube vid that says M.D.A. is Danger Zone.

KD was the singer of the latest incarnation of BRATS before they changed their name and the musical direction. Look here:

http://www.discogs.com/Brats-18th-January-1981-II/release/2848247

This is a full rehearsal with KD on vocals and some early tunes of later MF songs. Great records, but unfortunately both in MONO Sad
The original recordings are stereo (as you can hear on the two tracks, included on "Curse Of The Pharaohs" fanclub LP).

For such a popular band and character... whats the deal with so very little Mercyful Fate vinyl or merchandise being around?

There are lots of bootleg's in circulation but very little in regards to a worthy wicked label making something quality available.

One would think a box set of the Nuns have no fun with Melissa and then Don't Break the Oath would sell without much effort.
Add in that Return of the Vampire and some other earlier stuff perhaps. Either way a guaranteed sell I would think.

^ Personally, I don't think KD is interested in MF anymore; musically or otherwise, regardless of what he says.

I have also the pro-tape and the original LP version and did my own democompilation, using the "Return Of The Vampire" LP as a body to fill some gaps with the tracks of the bootleg LP.
