Russia : Aria (Ария) |
I would have said Magnit for Russia. Strange mix of patriotism, politics, pathos and classical music. But I suppose Aria gives a sense of vast landscapes... But they are too influence by Iron Maiden.
England: Early (Syd Barrett era) Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull.
USA: Motorhead. Growing up, I always thought they were an American band. Jack Daniels, girls, motorbikes, rebellion, speed, gambling... Motorhead are like an American road movie. _________________ http://canichangethisforanother.blogspot.com/

Odd how a band can suggest a broader national 'feel' yet not the actual place they're from.
I used to live in Barnsley, where Saxon are from (supposedly on the same street as Biff Bydord, though I never saw him) - their music is completely at odds with that squalid, abject, broke-as-fuck town. Metallers were completely reviled there too, characterised as glue-sniffers ("bag 'eads"). Sure, those conditions may have produced the band, but their sound is a departure from it rather than a representation of it. |

Sweden: Ted Gärdestad all the way.
Denmark: John Mogensen all the way.
The difference between the two men -- their music, their lyrics, their personalities, even the way they looked, how they lived and how they died -- tells you EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW about the difference between Sweden on one hand and Denmark on the other. It's almost creepy how precise it is! |

HAHAHA!!! Spot on |
I agree, except for the alleged Antifa moronism, it grossly overrates the spread of antifascist sentiments in Germany. Instead, I'd suggest the Böhse Onkelz. They represent every aspect NK7 listed, but instead of "Antifa moronism" go straight for angsty self-victimisation ("You hate us! Yeah, all of you hate us! But we're stronger than you! We'll show you! You're all really stupid, anyway!") which, in my opinion, is an essential German characteristic.

| Yeah I'm going to assume this would be from a metal perspective. Sentenced for Finland because of their general melancholic sound, suicide flirtation and imagery and catering to a variety of substandard tastes of the lowest common denominator. |

Interestingly, MANOWAR is much more popular in Europe than the U.S. |
This is true of course and I'm a huge Manowar fan myself, but a band which gets to the point of covering "An American trilogy" is the ultimate epitome of Americanism. Usurper also 100% reeks of US stereotypes, musically as well as individuals. I can picture them all laid-back, sharing a joint on on the couch and overdosing on burgers & cola while watching NFL and debating whether they shall pick Obama or Romney.
Easy call for Brazil would be Sepultura, which perfectly embodies the spirit of their country. From the piss poor beginnings in the local favelas to the wigger attitude of the modern days, "Roots" sounds 100% Brazilian in a bad way. They even like soccer. _________________ Thread derailed

Interested in trading a dub of Apokalypsimz for a dub of Purpurearagotamiceps?
I want that Balwezo Westijiz–Urkraftens Mystik LP but wanted to get it with the Bekëth Nexëhmü

Not really American if they haven't already made up their minds without sensible discussion. |
