Some hate intros, skipping them if possible. But many black metal worshippers see good intros as important as they "set the atmosphere" before the album breaks loose. My favorites as follows:
Emperor, the intro to "In the Nightside Eclipse".

Truly one of the most eerie intros of all time. Very suiting to the album, which in itself is one of the true milestones in black metal history.
Nordvrede, the intro to "Legion Nordvrede".

Some heavy tank's rumbling and roaring diesel engine and sound of tracks really gives the listener a good buildup to what is to come: A whipping, violent piece of black metal from beginning to end.
Graveland, the intro to "Celtic Winter".

The sound of a great medieval battle, blended with some truly dark, majestic synth. This gives me chills every time. Makes one dream of ancient greatness.

| Oden's Ride Over Nordland from Blood Fire Death is always the first one to come to mind in these these threads. Although it's pretty cheesy I also love the intro to Crossing the Fiery Path..I AM THE ONE WHOSE BREED IS OF THE DRAGON! |

while searching for Dimmu Borgir-Det nye Riket" as an example of that - I cant seem to find the intro I was thinking of? - Ive only heard the digipack re-release with the colorized cover, and the intro started out far different than any youtube clip I can find of the intro. Apparantly they changed it or something. is my memory failing me or can anyone help me out here?
