We all agree on that the Barnes era is the obvious climax in the production of the band, but what about the albums recorded after he called it quits? As much as I dislike Corpsegrinder's vocals, there are some decent albums/moments here and there. Personally I'd go with Vile and Kill, the former being musically closer to the groovy death metal of the early records whereas the latter includes some killer riffs and insane drumming. I haven't listened to Torture yet and I hope it's better than that Evisceration plague boredom fest -by far their most sterile album ever. _________________ Thread derailed

Vile is shit after the first four songs, Bloodthirst was the only height after Barnes left and it established the riff cow that Cannibal Corpse would steal from on every album afterwards. Neither of the guitarists can write any of the riffs Bob Rusay was able to in the band's first three albums, The Bleeding was the band's last essential album. The band's newest had a few good songs, but why the album needed 12 songs is beyond me. _________________

Vile is actually my favorite Cannibal Corpse album including the Barnes era, so this was an easy vote for me. _________________ If you are a false don't marry! Girlfriend is ok but only destructing anus from behind!!! - Fat Dagon

If you have not heard/bought "Torture" yet, you should.
Much better than "E Plague".
I voted for "Gallery...". _________________ We Are Satan's Generation And We Don't Give A Fuck! |

I like all the Corpsegrinder albums, but my favorite is The Wretched Spawn. So many great songs on that album. _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

I'll go with Gore Obssessed because it was the first post-Barnes album I heard and I liked it, while the others seemed more of the same. I think it has a fair share of good songs, specially for a band with so many albums out already. I didn't like anything after The Wretched Spawn, although Torture seemed more interesting than the previous two. I should give it a second listen one day.
But besides all that, Cannibal Corpse is probably one of the "bigger" bands that I respect the most, attitude wise. I haven't seen them either claiming to be pioneers, the best selling DM band or whatever (nor being annoyingly humble). And while their covers aren't always good, their choices always are, and certainly helped me discovering some classics back when I was getting started in the early 00s. |

Went for Vile though I remember liking Colin's production on Bloodthirst. It's been a long time since I've heard both. _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

| I'm really surprised about the amount of praise, that Vile gets here. I remember really hating it when it came out, but I haven't played it in at least 10 years. I'm going to give it another spin... |
