Show no mercy and kill em all were both albums that had a specific sound that neither bands kept after that. Ride the lightning took a drastic change in sound as well as Hell awaits.. even the haunting the chapel ep was way different.
So both albums stick out as well  |

Good post! I think the fact that Metallica got "there" quicker as regards the harder sound was thanks to Mustaine too. There's obvious differences before and after he stepped in. whatever though, both albums are fucking top notch!

Probably Kill em All, but comparing these two records seems a bit.. silly imho.. they seem to me like totally different bands overall.

well they already celebrated with a 25 year blood red vinyl reissue a few years back.... another reissue.... at best, maybe we can hope for a tour where they play SNM in its entirety as they sorta did in 2006 with reign in blood for its 20th
yeah I don't know that I can really back the looks that kill cover... seems odd since slayer should have already been up and running as solid unit with an album on its way at that point (shout at the devil and SNM again both coming out the same year) why do covers of complete inferior shit hair metal? motley crue fucking sucks.
these unused songs are definitely cool, but I think I understand why they didnt end up using them... they all dont quite sound like "slayer" if you get what I mean there... cool shit, but feels like slayer still evolving out of judas priest/venom type covers...

Show No Mercy. A lot more evil record, and I like my thrash evil. Nothing wrong with Kill 'Em All though. Still, I do prefer Ride the Lightning to Kill 'Em All. The best and last good Metallica album.
