The new song has grown on me, but then again, I loved the Max Necro trilogy albums. I really think this new album is going to be quite a departure from those albums and am very excited to hear it. With that said though, I DO get why some wouldn't like the past few albums or the forthcoming release.
However, what I don't get, is why people on both sides are resorting to personal attacks pertaining to the musical taste of those on the "opposing side." |

I stopped taking all BM bands seriously in 1994. They're normal people who play in bands. I don't care what they claim or how "evil" they try to be with their words or actions. It's just music and BM has become a money maker just like any other genre. End of story. |

Can anybody judge this stuff on its actual merits? I just don't like it. It doesn't matter that it's Darkthrone 'paying homage' to the classic heavy metal that they listened to as teenagers or that it's them 'ripping off' stuff that they listened to long ago. It just isn't very good...

Agreed, leaving aside the fact one of most influential metal bands starts playing retro 80's worship music (I'd rather even take a FAILED experimental album, or a mediocre continuation of style they were doing THEMSELVES), this is just 3rd grade retro 80's worship music, that can't stand against tons of better one that's out there.

In short, he's trying to not offend both new generation DT fans as well as the oldschool types, although it is clear that if he was to lose a part of fanbase which one he would choose.
