I think Pete Helmkamp is an asshole and a cockstar that should have done it into an Anal Cunt song title, but both two first albums are killer. I guess I'll go for the debut because of that glorious "Consecration" and "Lord of the funeral pyre", but though decision since "Sons of vengeance" is from the second one. _________________ Great deals with: Orionized, DEVORADOR DE PLAGAS, Mental Funeral, MEDICAL_WASTE

Amazing band - all four albums are killer. If I had to choose then my vote would probably go to 'The Inexorable' based on number of listens.
Shame they split up - need more bands in this style of DM to fill the void because I’m bored of all these tedious Autopsy/Incantation clones… |

The Inexorable.

hmmm...all true actually....compounded by the fact that the mic settings were different from track to track added even further troubles for mixing...oh and the actual tracks were received by us mere days before the studio session....
All production woes aside...I was quite happy with many of the songs I did on that record...some foolishly expected the albums songs to be some sort of "part 2" of whatever their favorite old album of ours was, just like those sad characters holding out that SLAYER was going to create "RIB 2" back when....the fact is I really wanted to attempt to make something that would not sound like what many of our clone bands were doing in the wake of our initial breakup after 2000...Commercially we were impacted quite negatively, however you might never have known it when we went out live and played those new songs, as the the crowds both sides of the Atlantic reacted quite well to them...even the slow crawling sections that everyone whined about in reviews....So for me this album has no less a place in value or "rank" as any of the older ones.... |
I like the music on the album a lot, but the production just stinks.
I'm glad I had the chance to see you guys many times in the late 90's. One of my most vivid teenage show memories was when you guys played Riley's Rock House outside of Chicago with Satyricon. I was towards the back of the club when Satyricon was playing "Mother North" (I think that's the song) and Pete and you were sitting behind my friend and I making fairy motions with your wrists and bobbing your heads from side to side along with the keyboard lines.
Hell of a comeback gig in Chicago in 2007 with Watain as well. |

Check out Spearhead (UK) if you haven't already -- Theomachia and Decrowning the Irenarch are about the best you'll find. _________________

Been a while since i listened to them but Face of Evil (swe) and Allfather (can) were pretty similar if i remember correctly. Especially Face of Evil.
Not even close to Angelcorpse of course but still pretty good stuff. |

try blasphemic cruelty, apocalypse command and perdition temple. gene palubicki plays in all of them and all the bands more or less remind me of angelcorpse. _________________ demonseed hellfucker |

Best. Fukkin. Band. Ever.
These guys can do no wrong - all of their various side projects/other bands are worth checking out.
Saw them open for Watain a few years back - one of the bests shows for me IMO.
Plus i spoke with both Helmkamp & Pablucki at onetime or another and both were ace with me!
I choose The Inexorable... _________________ Family first but Blasphemy a close second...
