Hammer of gods for me.

Of lucifer and lightning has killer songwritting but the mix is ridiculous, guitars are way too fucking loud and it makes everything else seem weak as shit.

Of Lucifer Of Lightning has really grown on me over the years. When I first heard it, I could not stand the drums. It has turned out to be another killer album in the damn near flawless Angelcorpse discography.

I have to agree. It has a few weaker moments like Extermination Sworn or Thrall but overall a great album that hadits impact lessened by the crap production.

There was a version of Of Lucifer circulating in the web after it's initial release with re-mixing/mastering done by some unknown. It sounded a lot clearer and punchier than the original.

Insanely good band with great albums from start to finish. Also Pete Helmkamp has one of the most original and awesome vocals in all of music for my taste - so raw and wild!
Hail Angelcorpse!

I'd like to hear this!
It may sound like a completely different (and better) record with the right mix and/or master. The songs are good, but the overall sound on the record was not so good. I also wish they would reform...but glad I got to see them twice!

I'm proud to say that I saw them multiple times live: even on their first tour with Gehennah and Impaled Nazarene when they in 96 if I remember correctly! They even played on that famous No mercy tour when the inexorable was released: I always wondered who that 2nd guitar player was that they had on that tour....

I went for "The inexorable" but hell: all their albums are great and yes: even "Of lucifer and lightning" is great1 Try to write a song like "Saints of blasphemy"... I don;t get the hate either for their last album!

When it comes to bands that are similar to Angel corpse:

- Hetzer: unfortunately not active, but they are the closest thing to Angel corpse together with Ravager : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-53zY-0Nwk

-Chaos inception https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3POlpXRL3Ss
I can;'t understand why this band never gets mentioned here between those goat worspipping crap bands that are mentioned here so often...The good thing about Chaos inception is while they are goddamned brutal in the Angel corpse vein, they have killer solo's!
I had always the impression that Gene uses the same solo for all their songs.... Laughing

HETZER actually had a cover track of AC on their album with guest vocals from INFERNAL WAR vocalist... got this disc from them in 2008 at gig in Poland... CHAOS INCEPTION i'd had come to tampa to play in 2012... good stuff all... and yeah, I've been basically making the same noise in songs for almost 20 years, too stubborn to get clever-ish about it...
