I remember that shortly before the album was released a different version of the title track appeared on an Ablaze magazine sampler.

(someone has uploaded it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCusxaIdz9A&feature=related)

Personally I prefer this version over the one which made it to the album, but unfortunately (to my taste at least) Godkiller changed their style alot.

Anybody knows if there are more songs from that session?

Done in the classic style of Rebirth of the Middle Ages. I really miss this band's 'black metal' output a lot.

been listening to this track nonstop lately. it's kind of a mix between aborym, zyklon b, puissance played with a high dose of nuclear apocalyptic zeal. too bad there are no more tracks from this session, it would be really cool to know if there are bands sounding like this at least a bit.

This song still rules after 16 years. And compared to the album version it sounds like a completely different song.

not the same recording session (perhaps), but one of duke's other projects just about fits the bill

He probably found another Lilith in the meantime and rode away with his Black Knights.

Afaik, this particular song was recorded for a compilation released by Avantgarde / Wounded Love, and was meant to be a teaser for the upcoming debut album. As we know, he changed his style and "image" not long after.

Anyway, the Godkiller demo CD/LP and the Uranium 235 EP are still in stock, btw. Wink

I read he had a whole BM full-lenght (the first version of "TEOTW") recorded but decided not to release it and that this track is the only track that's been released from that session.

great track, listened to the demos last night afterwards: very good old Samael/Satyricon crossover.

Why so, considering the time it was released? Never heard of an age when people had to purchase a CD, and could not just download mp3-rip, before listening to any new album? Wink
