The re-mixed one is an abomination.

In case you missed that part, but it was said all along that the initial edition did not have the sound the band wanted it to have. What is now called "remix" is the first and only proper mix for this album EVER.

Tie between Facta and Asgardsrei. I actually like the oddball production on the latter, it's oddly charming.

Out of curiosity, was any of it rerecorded at all?

No, nothing. The bass lines and even one or two guitar soli were recovered in the studio; they have been on the DAT-tapes all along but were muted in the initial mix. The drums were re-assembled by cut & paste out of the original recording. So, everything you hear on that edition was recorded in 1998, actually.

Wow; that makes the remixing / remastering job that much more impressive. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, I know that, thanks!

The original worked out better because the re-mixed version was used to edit out some vital things, and completely lost the balance in an effort to appear coherent with the newer sound.

The original Asgardsrei is brilliant; the new one, average.

Sorry!

The remixed, revised, remastered version sounds compressed to shit. The volume is louder, so that will grab some retards' attention. I think it was better before. There's a reason speakers have a volume knob.

Facta Loquuntur and Asgardsrei are my favorites. I don't see nothing wrong with the remasters/remixes. I think they are good.

I guess I'm one of the very few here that really likes the later material. I listen to the songs Gottloses Mordgesindel, Die rote Rune, Nordmännerlied almost constantly.

I think the Asgardsrei remix sounds much better. If you would hear both versions for the first time today I’m most of you would agree. While remixes potentially can ruin ‘that’ special feeling of a recording, this is a great example of how you do it right.

I think you should turn the volume up on the old version and turn it down on the remix. Don't be a victim of the volume war.

I really don't think there's a single poster on this board that would give credit to a remix for simply "turning up the volume".

Yep. Asgardsrei remix is great because it sounds like a fucking atombomb now.

A fair point. I just like the drastic dynamics of Asgardsrei. The remix flattens everything.
