|
|
When I was a kid I remember seeing the Symphonies of Sickness vinyl in my local store, and being blown away by the quote on the back of the sleeve...something about the dead communicating underground through fluids or similar. I didn't actually pick up the album til years later when Earache released Reek and Symphonies on a single CD, and there was nothing like that quote on the insert.
Complete forgot about it until tonight, but no amount of googling seems to reveal anything about it. Just when I thought I might have hallucinated it, I found a pic of the sleeve...seems to be something in the top left corner of the back:

Can't magnify it enough to read what it says though...can anyone with the LP clarify? |

| It was on the tape version as well. "The dead secret a liquid underneath their eyelids, top and bottom, they communicate through this liquid as I have found out when a baby is baptized, they put it in then and later in life people on top do it, who I cannot say. The only remedy I can recommend is letting the wind into your lids, or swirl them in the dark..." |

| It sounds like 1800s to me. Some alchemical/occult text maybe? Or a character in some novel? |

yeah, sounds very Lovecraftian (reminds me of something from Herbert West for some reason, but it's definitely not).
does it not say who it's by under the quote itself on the sleeve/insert? |

After a bit of googling it actually says:
"The dead people secrete a liquid underneath your eyelids, top and bottom, they communicate through this liquid as I have found out when a baby is baptized, they put it in then and later in life people on top do it, who I cannot say. The only remedy I can recommend is letting the wind swirl into your lids, or swirl them in the dark..." |
