For 1 CD |
You can fit a dozen CDs with jewel cases & padding in an International Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope for $22. |
True but $120 approx of CDs + $46.25 = a lot of money in anyones language. |
See above...
I just checked & it's actually $23.95, still a lot cheaper than $37 or $46.25. _________________

No worries... the increase still sucks shit, but it's just part of the cost of doing business. Unfortunately I suspect I'll be seeing a lot fewer international orders, but time will tell. _________________

Bottom line is: that sucks. |
Yup. I just spent my week packing up all pending international orders & trades & shipping them out, otherwise I would have ended up spending hundreds more on shipping. |
Which online shipping site do you use? I've only used the one through Paypal for printing shipping online, but from what I can tell for international they only offer Express or Priority options? Didn't somebody say on here that First Class Package postage was now going to become available online too? |
I use Endicia. It has a monthly service fee, but since shipping prices are cheaper online than at the post office it evens out if you ship enough internationally. |
Cool, thanks for the tip- I am looking at their site now. It seems backwards to me that both the USPS.com or Paypal shipping online shipping tools don't offer the First Class option for international, and yet you can use it through this Endicia. You'd think they'd offer that service through all channels. But you're right, if you're shipping enough internationally, it is probably worth paying that fee and using Endicia. _________________ ***************************

So Shipping for one (1) CD via First-Class International was $6.08 and now is $12.75 it went up more than double. For all you vinyl lovers that buy quantity's that weigh over 4 pounds expect to pay at the very minimum $57.40 What a scam!!! _________________ www.dreadrecords.net |

You should probably get different mailers because my cds are 4 oz which makes it 9.45.
Still, I have said this before, this will deter some from buying small but larger orders are not as bad percentage wise regarding the increase. Buy 4 or 5 cds instead of 1.
The Euro and the Pound are much stronger than the dollar so for some there could still be value even with the shitty increase. _________________

I see lots of online businesses suffering because of this. Perhaps the merchandise will go down in price slightly because of it. I'm lucky enough to have people who bulk order with me all the time. Most of the time we buy the same albums as well so buying 3 or 4 copies of the same LP might "justify" paying the higher postage rate.
One of the reasons why I buy from Nuclear Blast is because of the flat rate shipping of 22 EUR no matter how big the parcel. What sucks is that they refuse to lower the value on the customs form. I always get charged ridiculous amount of duty tax. Last one was $51!!! |

Once again the government is out to hurt the economy and make it even worse. This is going to effect many small businesses. _________________ www.dreadrecords.net |

It's actually FedEx and UPS trying to squeeze USPS out of business. Not to say that the government is not to blame for the mess they've created, but the FedEx/UPS lobbyists are don't their best to increase USPS postage for us. Sign the petition I linked earlier in this long thread. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

1 lp within the US with delivery confirmation went up $0.14...not too bad. No more green slips for dc, just the receipt you get and they put a printed label on the box.
Global express which includes tracking is about $58 from the US to Germany. |

Yes I'm in Canada.
I think the rates have increased every year during the last decade.
It doesn't seem that long ago that I was paying $5.60 to ship 1 LP.
It is impossible to run a distro or any kind of small business that relies on shipping the merchandise to customers. I only trade CDs and 7" EPs with people overseas. It just isn't worth trading an LP unless I can get some rarity like "Dark Medieval Times" for let's say "Master of Puppets" which will never happen of course. |
