The only option that expensive would be express mail, which is just stupid to have as the only option. Either that or they're using a shipping calculator in their auctions & they estimated a weight of several pounds. Regardless, that's an issue with an idiot seller, not USPS. _________________

Yeah people have created a lot of paranoia here. The increases suck but they are worst on the very small parcels. _________________

That's juts rip-off pricing. 1 shirt can still be shipped to Europe 1st class for about $10, or in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope for $23.95. |
Does this track to every country with signature confirmation? I'd like to sell some expensive shirts. |

| Quote: | The words large envelopes and flats are used interchangeably. Whatever you call them, flats must:
- Have one dimension that is greater than 6-1/8 inches high OR 11-½ inches long OR ¼ inch thick.
- Be no more than 12 inches high x 15 inches long x ¾ inch thick. |
Its funny, in order to send an EP to Canada as a 'flat' I actually had to make the package bigger and heavier. _________________ http://www.fallenempirerecords.com/

Flats must be flexible, so CDs/EPs/MCs really do not qualify as a flat.
Taken from the USPS website (http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/immc2_016.htm#ep2368174):
241.232 Dimensions and Characteristics
Large envelopes (flats) must meet the following dimensions and characteristics:
a. More than 11-1/2 inches long or 6-1/8 inches high or 1/4-inch thick.
b. Not more than 15 inches long or 12 inches high or 3/4-inch thick.
c. Flexible (see 241.236).
d. Rectangular.
e. Uniformly thick as stated in 241.235. _________________ www.silcharderecords.com

It will flex a little before it snaps. _________________

Yeah. A couple of years ago the guys at the post office let me send all of my CDs/EPs as flats, but they stopped doing it last year -- they said they were finally told off by management. I still send all zines as flats, though. _________________

If you don't feel the USPS is fucked yet, here is a bit of what happened here today:
1 parcel delivered to another address on 1/28. parcel handler obviously wasted or dyslexic since 2 numbers on the address they shipped to incorrect. luckily other person returned the parcel at the PO.
another parcel with delivery confirmation received yesterday in town not delivered 30 hours later. |

Yeah it's brutal - I order jazz and noise records from a guy on discogs all the time, his rates were super fair and they've essentially doubled in the last week. I was all set to order an LP and 7" from the NWN store this morning and the shipping was $18.95, in used to be about $11.... from now on, I hate to say it, but I'm only doing shared priority orders with a friend of mine once a month or so. It used to be no thang to just order an LP or two on impulse whenever NWN or HHR updated their distros but now I can't really justify that anymore if the shipping is almost as much as the fucking record....
NPR has grimm tidings on the matter: http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2013/01/29/170498909/rising-postal-rates-squeeze-small-record-labels _________________ http://www.last.fm/user/ngadke |

Kill a postal worker in protest of this offense tomorrow, Everyone do it, send the message back.
Kill one in a church and set the church on fire, that will even be greater and grandeur. |
