Not according to Euronymous. Aha!

Also, this thread sadly reaffirms the axiom that USBM is simply terrible. It's so terrible that having a few great bands can't even begin to make up for it. No wonder Europeans feel the same way about USBM that they feel about Kraft cheese singles.

An old school USBM band I rarely see mentioned anymore is Demonic Christ (feat. Dana Duffy ex-Mythic). Their '95 full-lenght Punishment For Ignorance was a bit disjointed, but their '96 promo is still holding up well. Especially the track Blut Und Ehre.

Most new USBM is fail, people wanna play like they're European when they shouldn't.

Bewticher was good but thats more speed and they went into limited copies collector frenzy pretty fast which killed it for me.

Isenblast are still pretty solid, seem to have the original flare.

USBM is as much fail as european black metal.
Most of it is gay ass shit and there's a handful of bands that are doing something cool. this is the case for so many different types of music. I don't get why people complain about the state of USBM.

I would have chosen different words but I back this sentiment.

If I have to hear yet another US band doing the whole Cascadian BM epileptic major-key tremelo-riff nonsense I'm going to stab a fucking tree. God damn hippies.

Funny thing is even an NS band like Fanisk has these excessively sunny tremolo riffs.. gets me thinking maybe its something in the water rather than ideology.

Well yeah nobody ever said there is no good black metal on american soil. Out of your list there is only 2 bands I dislike Black Funeral and Profanatica, and there are min 4-5 amongst my all time faves: Absu, Blasphemy, BW, GBK, AoA. But if you remove the canadian bands, and in the case of USBM better to remove as nobody treats them like that, well then anybody can see that USBM scene is nowhere close the their european counterparts.

Lucifer's Hammer, Wind of the Black Mountains, Magus, Acheron, Crucifier, Summon. Regardless of some Death Metal influence in the latter, just as relevant pre-vice age
