Earache only started doing their so called FDR because they found out it's the correct way to press vinyl and it's how Ive been doing my releases since I started my label. They were perfectly happy pressing vinyl from CD sources until they got shit over that in an interview they did a few years back. Copycats! Very Happy

^ haha interesting fact there. I remember that Earache blog. I thought the fact that the master tape for the first Carcass LP was stored on a PCM Betamax was literally the coolest thing ever.

There is no doubt that Earache is about 10 years behind the curve, just look at their current catalog of new releases.

That back catalog has to be the only thing keeping them alive.

The last thing that happened from memory was that Digby said "metalcore is the future" about 5-7 years ago. Now they have almost no bands left.

Found it:

http://www.metalsucks.net/2010/06/24/earaches-digby-pearson-responds-to-re-thrash-backlash/

"Maybe you missed this particular memo dude, but the future of ‘Extreme Metal’ is already being written into history by a generation of young bands playing whats loosely an amalgam of Death Metal brutality & hardcore style knuckle-dragging chug chug breakdowns, its called ‘Deathcore’. It was never predicted by any journalist or blogger but was created by teenagers seeking to make the most extreme music imaginable. The scene built its success due to those bands early adoption and fanatical use of the power of the then newly-launched social networking site MySpace." - Digby, 2010
