They both sang about shoes.BLue suede shoes and Nike a go go . Elvis had better moves though.
[quote="Demoniarch"]Danzig > Elvis
Danzig took the voice but instead of singing about whatever the hell it was Elvis did in the 50's, Glenn sang about demonic evil stuff.
Eclipsed.

(early) MAYHEM >>> Venom.
Venom are a bunch of wimps playing pop/radio music compared to Mayhem. _________________

Wrong and gay. Venom did play a few poppy sounding bullshit songs, but they have more testosterone in one verse than Mayhem has in their entire discography.
On the other hand...

Agreed 100% |
That Carcass / Impaled comparison makes no sense in the context of this thread.
Impaled's a shit band for what it's worth.
Pseudogod > Archgoat
I like both almost equally, and maybe I haven't had as much time to listen to Pseudogod as I have Archgoat, but I find Pseudogod's more death metal compositions a bit more interesting. |
Archgoat are definitely NOT eclipsed by Pseudogod. _________________ Ashes to ashes

How very, very true - albeit only for Carnivore's debut album. "Retaliation" bears, in my opinion, no similarities to 80's Venom. |

| Not surprised to see Venom mentioned. I mean, they are metal's most important band #2, and their music still stands on their own, but you are a fool if you think there is some gigantic gap in extremity between Venom and other NWOBHM bands. |

I don't hear much (if any) Immolation/Incantation in UK. _________________

Eh, whatever.
Eclipsed might be too strong of a word, but ultimately, you seem to care a whole lot more about this than I do, so have it your way. |

| Today with the internet being the principal media to discover music, i don't think any bands are still eclipsed by someone else. Bathory and Slayer may have eclipsed Venom but today they have their own importance and a record collection needs the three bands to be complete. Today it's the other way around, there's only a few band that are not eclipsed by the old ones... I buy lp from new now and then but always end up listening more to Nifelheim or Sadistik Exekution than Power From Hell or Wrathprayer (and yes those are probably bad examples...). |
