Pretty much. Same to that how can Dawn eclipse anything? I had the first album once. It had not a single memorable riff or melody on it. I'm glad I traded it for Esoptron.

Notice I said that one particular record AND only indicated that its better in some ways. Should've also noted still that dissection reigns supreme on some of the most memorable song writing to ever grace metal music. Just stating that one sacramentum album pushed the boundries of technicality and atmosphere within that particular genre.
Also note my solo band Gemini main influences stem from.... Dissection. Far away from the sun had better use of massive layers and after this they ran out of darker ideas

I love Ildjarn, but VON transcends Ildjarn. Werent Vidar Vaer and V. Vikernes the first to actually distribute VON (besides the obvious one)? I can swear that I`ve seen a flyer were they sold VON shirts which they printed up themselves.
