can't remember but i think Storm of the light's bane.

"real" black metal would be Secret's of the black arts. still like that record but everything they've done since sucks.

The first black metal band I've heard was Bathory in 1986 when I was 14 years old. The 2nd was Tormentor from Hungary 1-2 years after Bathory.

In 80s I did not consider Bathory as black metal at all... they were cruel..they were thrash for me (in 80s I did not see any pictures, did not know the lyrics etc)... it was just music on x-th generation copy cassette.

10 years ago. I was 14 and was a lot in AC/DC, + some other stuff like Alice Cooper's Brutal Planet, Offspring & Motörhead's Sacrifice (at the time, I thought it was a band nobody knew because it was too violent to be listen by others anyway).

My dad best friend come to me and give me a CD from a member of his family since I "liked this hard rock stuff".

It started like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UQeQOa8V50

and it never was the same after.

Got a tape from a friend in school in 87 or so at the tender age of 13 that had "The Exorcism" by Bulldozer as the intro, followed by "Outbreak of Evil" by Sodom. Another friend bought the first Bathory LP shortly after (yellow goat!), I bought "Don't Break The Oath".

Started ordering all kinds of demos and records, did a fanzine (well, actually I did quite a few fanzines, and even a large circulation print magazine, but only my first fanzine was all death/black metal), lots of tape trading, got bored of all that useless garbage after 94 (with very few expections), and got slowly back into it around 99... I still don't like most contemporary music.

I was already a casual listener of Mayhem, Burzum, etc for a few years but was forced to digest Storm of The Light's Bane and In the Nightside Eclipse and was afterwards instantly hooked.

Dark Funeral (Secrets of the Black Arts, gotta start somewhere huh) and Dissection (Soulreaper), both of which I liked right away. Then Burzum (Key to the Gate) which I wasn't sure about at first, but on the second listen it just seemed to click and I thought "this is it, exactly the sound I was looking for" as a progression from the death and thrash I knew at the time to something more extreme. This was around the end of 2004 so I was about 13.

Medio 90s..Listened to bands like Machine Head, Pantera a.s.o. Then borrowed a couple of tapes with:

Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Satyricon/Enslaved split (The Forest is my Throne/Yggdrasill)
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger

Listened to these while taking the bus to and from school. Hypnotized by the magic and the atmosphere. Nothing like it at that time..It was truly unique. Then it just accelerated from there.
