The first time i heard them was in 1994 when i bought a dubbed videotape with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mK9qbcYnL0 concert on it.
I loved them at once !!! Ordered thy mighty contract some days later when i had money for that. Then some weeks later Αποκαθηλωσις 7".
But the last one i´ve heard was triarchy of... Maybe i should give the others a chance. _________________ GOOD TRADERS : Vandreren , black sun, Kelkum, Gravelander , Division Lycanthrop, goat_lord, Kakarot SS5, S.P. |

I like Non Serviam more than TMC, but both are 100% score albums. _________________ Sack Of Maggots, Maggotsack, Hopeless Pile Of Hopeless Bones.. |

I've never heard Thy Mighty Contract. I have a list of "classic" albums I'm putting off listening to. When all music has failed me, I'll turn to that list. It drives my girlfriend insane. |
That policy is killing you! You should go crank "The Sign of Evil Existence" immediately. |
Haha. There's a relatively small handful of albums left, because over the years I've given up and bought stuff or have gotten drunk at a friends place and threw the album on. I'm pretty strict about TMC though. It's like orgasm denial or something. |

Do yourself a MIGHTY favor and toss on THY MIGHTY CONTRACT on now and add it to your "this is some of the best shit I have ever heard" list. |

There are some album of them I don't like, Sleep of the Angels, Genesis or Kronos... But I really enjoyed that Aealo, even more than Sanctus Diavolos and Theogonia. There are some moments sounding bad, but I found some really good atmospheres on it.
|
The only reason I ever listen to Aealo after the first few times when it came out is for the Diamanda Galas track/arrangement or whatever you want to call it. Really good stuff there. The rest of the album just doesn't grab me. I love Theogonia, though. |

Starting with Sanctus Diavolos is where my interest really gets going with this band, they mastered the darkness with the whole orchestra/keyboard stuff there.
Prior to Sanctus were weaker albums building to Sanctus, but the very early stuff is good black metal sans the polish. Over all, a really talented band though. |

I like most stages of RC. Don't care too much for their early beginnings as Gindcore or whatever the term these days is. "Thy Mighty Contract" and "Non Serviam" are classics.
"Triarchy...", "...Poem" and "....Angels" are very good albums in a newer direction. "Triarchy..." being my fave of the three.
"Khronos", "Genesis" and "...Diavolos" didn't do much for me.
"Theogonia" and "Aealo" get a few spins now and then.
I am eagerly waiting for the new album to be released this year. RC, Samael, Sentenced and Tiamat are bands who took a different musical direction but kept me interested. Most of the time I lose my interest when bands make a drastic change. _________________

My thoughts exactly...Though I haven't listened to any of their work after TMC (Which incidentally I put on today after reading this thread) Might have to rectify that situation.
I just listen to Sacriphyx for that "Hellenic black metal" sound these days instead!! :p |
