Just want to make a general thread for people to post which pressing of a certain album is superior. Whether it's because of better sound, presentation, etc.
I'll start off by saying that the 'remastered' sound on the Incorrigible Bigotry digipak CD is definitely inferior to the original pressing. _________________

The NWN versions trump everything before them.
Yosuke, my cheque please for that. Thanks. |

Was going to make a similar thread but given the amount of bitching lately about threads like these I decided not to bother.
Any way, pretty much every Century Media original first press > Century Media represses in both sound and presentation.
Mercyful Fate's "Don't break the oath" remaster by Roadrunner with a gold bottomed disc is positively killer. > or equal to the original.
Latest Peaceville Darkthrone pressings are faithful to the originals. Tie.
The Burzum "Back on Black" LPs look like total shit. Originals > BoB versions. |

| Buy a decent stereo and learn how to use the equipment and every version is awesome... except Wilhelms prized copy of Gauntlet, that shit sucks, even God or Satan could not make that album sound good. |

I call bullshit.
Everyone heard it. It's Canada's De Mystriis Dom Sathanas. |

I'll add that the most recent Burzum represses are the best of the BoB versions. The art is somewhat blurry but not completely horrible and the sound is decent. The very first BoB versions are the absolute worst - thin vinyl and shit jackets. I threw one of them in the garbage several years ago.
Mayhem question - how does the DSP version of DMDS fare against the ADP version? _________________

I have the first three but I neglected to buy TH because I remember hearing that they fucked with the audio. Is this not the case?
Also, the old version of Havohej's "Dethrone the Son of God" looked better. The HHR reissue lost the green/yellow cover which was totally awesome. _________________

Goatlord - Reflections of the Solstice
- The Turbo Records version is much better than the other mix. Also features the chickens on Chicken Dance.
Sodom - Obsessed by Cruelty
- Steamhammer LP sounds so much better than the "first version" which was used for Metal Blade LP and on the CD with In the Sign of Evil. _________________

That blood upon the soundscape recording is total shit. Love Blasphemy, but that shit is fucking unlistenable.
The Beherit live Roviameni (sp) live boot is the same.
Both bands are above criticism, but those are completely not worth buying. |

Mhm, disagree.
Maybe it's because I heard the In the Sign of Evil/Obsessed by Cruelty CD first, but in my opinion that version is way more evil. Drums sound like they were recorded in a morgue or something.
But both versions have their charme and are both mandatory inventory in every decent metal-household. |

Plus the addition of "After the Deluge" only sweetens the deal. |
