Things like INRI, Bestial Devastation/Morbid Visions, Seven Churches, Morbid Visions, the Hellhammer demos, etc. transcend genres to me.

You can call them thrash and I won't argue, you can call them black metal and I won't argue, you can call them death metal and I won't argue...

I'd say as far as pure thrashmetal WHIPLASH's "power & pain" wins. Killer all the way through, from song writing to production to performance. Only thing that sucks is the cover art Laughing

not my favourite genre, but

Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of violence
...
Slayer - Reign in blood
Kreator - Coma of souls
Exhorder - The Law
Dark Angel - Darkness descends
Metallica - Ride the lightning
Testament - The new order
Solstice (USA) - s/t
Megadeth - Rust in peace
Exodus - Another lesson in violence

Demolition Hammer's epidemic ... was, is and forever will be a bloody buttfuck for ALL the rest of thrash metal before and after its release!!!

Probably because it's only good, nothing amazing. Much better thrash records out there.

Its a great album, but its contending with a lot of other massive albums. 80's thrash spawned so many classics, it's a pain in the ass to choose just ten. I could probably squeeze Agent Orange out for that though.

I think I actually prefer Power from Hell. I dig the punk edge they have on that album.

Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Carnivore - Retaliation
Sabbat - Dreamweaver
Sodom - Persecution Mania

Adn that's about it I guess. I'd rather listen to some good old school Heavy or Death metal than Thrash.
