They were not that bad musically, the problem is I can't stand female vocals.
But still 100times less annoying than GHOST. |

Not at all and in all honesty I didn't mean to sound irrespectful to TDB fans. I'm not into that style hence I doubt I could ever get a kick from a 2013 band doing '70ies rock but I'll definitely check them out as soon as I decide that stealing my neighbour's wi-fi isn't all that fun any longer. My point was that I find it odd that people who would normally listen to fagometal are into this stuff -but then again, I listen to Beherit and turbofolk so who am I to judge. No need to freak out boys. |
No big deal. I imagine 90% of the people here have some weird stuff in their library that you absolutely wouldn't expect from goatfago fans; catchy 70s hard rock is a lot closer to metal than some of the shit I see people around here claiming to listen to. But then again, it's all subjective.
Personally I think a lot of the retro 70s bands are boring and plastic, especially the ones that (of course) got a lot of mainstream success out of it somehow, e.g. Wolfmother, The Sword. I do like The Devil's Blood and a handful of others though. It seems like where a lot of them go wrong is not in the atmosphere but just in not knowing how to write a memorable or halfway-original song to save their lives, which is something The Devil's Blood were pretty good at. _________________

Sad news indeed. _________________ There is a country called Tír na N Óg, which means the Country of the Young, for age and death have not found it; neither tears and loud laughter have gone near it. The shadiest boskage covers it perpetually. |

Bummer. I'm glad I got to see them live twice, and as stated earlier the performance at MDF last year was really something else and ranks near the top of the hundreds upon hundreds of performances I've watched over the years. I couldn't possibly care less about the satanic/anti cosmic magick stuff, the band simply wrote a lot of songs that captivated me.
As much as everyone bitches about 'occult rock' or whatever these days, I'd be hard pressed to name 10 bands in this 'trend'...... meanwhile, no one seems to mind that there are literally thousands of black/death bands
If you write good tunes, I couldn't care less how many bands are doing something similar. |

Pretty much.
Nearly everything in the metal scene is trend-oriented, and it's funny how vehemently people will bitch about the trends that they don't like while keeping their mouths curiously shut about the much bigger trends they personally enjoy. I mean, I like this site and this label, but neither would be as popular as they are today if it hadn't been for Yosuke and others basically starting a trend toward this kind of music years ago. If you're bitching about occult rock because it's a "trend" and yet are buying the newest bestial black warmetal stuff from bands that are maybe 3rd or 4th generation of that style (and doing their thing while eBay prices for some bands are almost as sky-high as Ghost), I have to question your self-awareness... _________________

TDB were great, especially live. I enjoyed their works, and that's all that matters. Everything dies, eventually.
As for the "trend" topic, everything is trendy depending on your own personal position. For example, people on extreme music forums like this one using terms such as goatfago and mocking extreme music is the hot topic of 2012-2013. This too shall die, when people move on to the next thing to have a winge about. |

| I hate this genre with a passion but at least they were one of the better bands out of the whole retro movement. Would have been interesting to see them live. |

Scented candles, smoke and fake blood. I had the 'pleasure' to see them live and walked out halfway through their set. |
