yes, it aged well, but not 1 of the best death/thrash/black metal albums of its time,....just mediocre with some nice catchy moment...

| I dunno, I guess it could have been revolutionary for its day but I never liked it. One of those albums that people insisted were essential, but I could barely sit through. I still insist that the only good Mayhem was De Mysteriis and the stuff with Dead. |

I overdosed on this album back in the early '90ies, now I just don't feel the need to listen to it anymore and probably haven't in a decade. It didn't stand the test of time that well as far as I'm concerned.

I voted yes. I feel like a lot of black metal does not age all that well, outside of a few specific bands/releases. This is one of them in my opinion.

My two cents:
Deathcrush and Necrolust are still great songs, especially the guitar sound on the later is sheer brutality.
But minus the Conrad Schnitzler song, the Manheim-interlude and Witching Hour, there's not much flesh left on the cadaver. Chainsaw Gutsfuck is one of the most boring songs ever made. |

Cover is brilliant and the album is stellar, absolute deathcrushing mayhem from start till finish. There arent many albums out there that has the same atmosphere as this classic.

Anyone voting "no" more than likely just doesn't like it. It's aged incredibly well. Nothing about it sounds old and tired. Nothing sounds outdated. Fucking perfect record, in my opinion. |

| It was one of the earlier albums i heard when i first discovered black metal. I still regard it as one of my favorites. I love the album cover and the general aesthetics of the release and i think the music is superb, necrolust and the venom cover being my favorite of the bunch. Definitely aged well. |
