somehow found this album to have alot more "cold" atmosphere-wise than any grim frostbitten bands.... such a great record! |

This one isn't the best MAYHEM release, and not as good as said sometimes. It is not bad either, and stood the test of time well IMO.
Post the same thread about Live in Leipzig, and I'll vote a thousand times yes. _________________

It's definetly a landmark album but it's not in the same league as Impostor "Little Hitler Illusion" |

Anyone voting "no" more than likely just doesn't like it. |
Personally I do like it, I just think it doesn't work as well as it did in 1993. My perspective might be biased as I have probably listened to it for a much longer time than most posters here so it could be a simple matter of having grown tired of it. _________________ Permabanned |

Point is not if you like it or not. If you don't like it, this thread is not for you.
Thread is for people who own it since many years and I just wondered if it still works for them - because for me it doesn't really, like I explained above.
To sum it up: historical value > musical quality |

Aged well in the sense that it wasn't spectacular to begin with. De Mysteriis, however, has not aged well in my opinion. |

Ofcourse it aged well and my point is reinfornced by the quote above. already stood the test of time by the time most heard it. It didnt get much attention til nearly 10 years after its release. _________________ When pussy calls your name.....there's no way back. |

I think it's still a great album but I've always hated those fucking vocals. |

Always thought this was a below average album and still do. There were much better albums released at that time. It's one of those albums that back then I would buy simply based on the cover, logo and title (perhaps even song titles) then go home play it and be disappointed. I still have it but I think the last time I played was in the mid/late 1990's. So the answer is no it didn't stand the test of time. Maybe I should listen to it again but I don't think my opinion will change. |

I just don't understand how you can't enjoy the riffs on this release. The production and vocals are killer. |

Chainsaw Gutsfuck boring? I have a soft spot for that track, probably because it's the first Mayhem track I heard. Not soft. |

I used to like this album more. I dunno, don't get me wrong, I still hum the main riff to Deathcrush like everyday... It didn't age too well for me. |

BTW: According to the internet, this should be the original picture of Deathcrush.
Looks very similar, but there's one hand too much. Can anyone explain that? |
