missed out on this poll - surprised that Destruction Of Man has not more votes. My "go to" album from them.

Timeless Reign was the first great Svartsyn album that got properly distributed in the underground circuit. That is why it remains the most popular.

I'm not sure how well records two and three were distributed, but I certainly remember a couple of prominent distros stocking them back in the day. Maybe not in 'popular' distros - I can't recall. Seems to be a band, for whatever reason, that doesn't garner as much praise as it deserves.

Hoping Draugen takes a trip to Belgium (or wherever Ornias is nowadays) and appears on another Svartsyn release. The drumming on Dungeons and Towards Chaos are works of art that should be playing continuously in the National Gallery.

draugen shouldve done session on maranatha...
anyway even though the latest stuff has more straightforward drumming, after i first heard My Mountain on Wrath Upon The Earth i didnt much care anymore. the newest ep Nightmarish Sleep is very good as well, and the production is back to a very raw sound, somewhere inbetween His Majesty and the original The True Legend though not sure if its one off or not.

Black Testament slightly returned to Destruction of Man era, just that neither moment is memorable. Svartsyn have no weak release, the rank is from mediocre/good(all with the new logo) to superb. a band that never distanced from the second wave sound, never aimed for numbers or to please the limited audience. Destruction of Man remains his finest.

You'll need to blame "Surth Lit the Earth", I think.

Been a while since I listened to these guys so just stuck Timeless Reign on.

Love some of the interplay between the drums and guitars on this album.

As for me, yes. Together with "My Sinner"

Is there a reason why "..His Majesty" did not appear on Lp ?

This was released by End All Life in 2000 as a 2LP as Bloodline / His Majesty.

This band has been undeservingly doing time in my neglecto-sphere, but "...His Majesty" and "Destruction of Man" are the ones for me and should really get them one day.

I have to give "Timeless Reign" a proper listen cos of the overflowing praise here.

Rest assured the old drummer and drum production are indeed killer...

After being split between the original The True Legend and ...His Majesty, I ultimately settled for TTL. Surely, the production work is really shabby, but that's what gave those tracks a sinister and enormous atmosphere. Actually, I love pretty much everything by Svartsyn, but The True Legend holds a special place for me. Truly the unsung heroes of Swedish black metal.
