ADK will probably kill me for constantly stealing his ideas for threads. Anyway, I noticed opinions on this album are mixed so may be a discussion makes sense. Like many old schoolers I look upon it as the last classic Slayer album, War Ensemble, Dead Skin Mask and Seasons in my book are no less crushing than the best moments of the first three albums. But who knows, this was the first Slayer I bought upon its release so there might be a nostalgia factor playing a role here.

Killer album with a few of my favorite Slayer tunes, but I wouldn't say its mandatory like the previous albums.

Good album, track like DSM doesnt work that well with me...

| Like to OP this album holds a lot of great memories for me. Sitting up at 03.00 in the morning with the midnight sun shining bright, blasting Seasons on my cassette player... Those were the days. The album still holde up really well imo, I just wish the production had been a bit more beefy. But yes; classic album indeed. |

I'm a bit tired of revisionism and sibaritisms, everyone in the metal realm knows that everything Slayer recorded up to and including South of Heaven is MANDATORY, and who doesn't agree is a f.a.g.

How could anyone discard early SLAYER?
However I don't get why Katharsis is referred to as "gay"

I could never get into this one having heard all the previous albums first. I guess it's not bad but I'd say it's the first non-mandatory Slayer album.
Edit: I voted the second choice, but I'd add RIB and SOH as well. |

Back to the topic, I'll have to agree with the guy who ranks Born of Fire among the outstanding moments of the record. Brilliant song which they should play live more often. Other notable tunes would be Spirit in Black, Expendable Youth and Skeletons of Society. Hallowed Point is the only weak song on Seasons imo.
