Love them or hate them, in the early to mid 90's, Emperor created some of the most groundbreaking material in the black metal scene. The furious frozen sounding riffs combined with the almost dreamlike atmosphere, made them stand out amongst other black metal acts at the time. Countless clones were to follow in the late ninties but none of them ever captured what Emperor did in their music. (They all sucked)
I really dont care for IX Equilibrium or Prometheus... But maybe someone on here does lol. |

Funny how Terrorizer praised their post-In The Nightside Eclipse material to no end back in the day. It all sounds super cheesy and plastic when you listen to it now. They might have been the first band to take the "high road" in Black Metal, but the later stuff just doesn't hold up. _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

Haha I remember that. Neither IX Equilibrium or Prometheus hold up to the early works. They're on the same level as Ihsahn's solo work for me |

Even Anthems is kinda half-crappy. Gone is the dark atmosphere and the synths are super cheesy. Really cheap sounding for an album claims to be "sophisticated black metal art". _________________ http://www.dissectionforum.dk/ |

I voted ITNE only because it was my first, but their ENTIRE discography is excellent. _________________

| Definitely In The Nightside Eclipse, but everything up to (and including) Anthems is pretty good. Never liked much else from them. |

Wow, Anthems is scoring more votes than the mini lp/demo? We need to start introducing HIV tests as a pre-requisite to have memberships approved here. _________________ Thread derailed
