Some years ago a friend of mine showed me one track from a Death bootleg that he got through tape trading, apparently this bootleg was recorded from one of the shows from an european tour without chuck in the late 80's.

In this track you could hear people screaming "we want chuck" and the singer (Rick Rozz maybe?) responded that chuck didn't want to go on tour and started to make people scream fuck Chuck.

Any of you guy knows this bootleg and the story behind this tour?

Singer is not Rick Rozz. He was kicked out of the band long time before that tour happened. Singer is Louie Carrisalez and guitarist was Walter Trachsler.

Chuck cancelled the Death's participation on this tour on the last minute but Andrews and Butler decided to do it anyways. There should be a ton of old interviews in magazines about it.

Oh well he's horrible and sounds worse than Brett Hoffman's drug vocals on Malevolent Creation's Stillborn album.

Why didn't Chuck want to tour?

Can't remember if Chuck cancelled two or even three European tours in the last minute.

bottom line was, the tour didn't happen as he wanted it to. so he canceled it days before it was supposed to start. no idea what exactly was the trigger to waive it, but it got a lot of people pissed off, including the rest of the band.

you should be able to find interviews about it. the fans were also pissed off as it wasn't the first time death/chuck cancelled a tour so everyone happily joined the "fuck chuck" choir. at least at the show I attended.

Recalling this from an old Metal Hammer interview as accurately as I can but the touring conditions offered were, apparently, way below the standard Chuck thought acceptable so pulled out of the tour completely. Most people only found out he wasn't on the tour at the gigs. It was a massive tour with Kreator as well that they were on. The amount of dates seemed endless.

not much info but here's something i found:

I also gathered that the tour previous to that (1989) was cancelled.
