I definitely recognize that this is not a band that most people here are going to dig, however, they've sort of flown under the radar and I've been blasting this for a week straight - I'd played it a bunch of times before this but something just clicked this time around and I'm just being a total spastic about this record. I'd checked them out before a bunch of times before but had found their sound to be a little too close to Obscura and Necrophagist without adding anything especially standout to the technical progressive death metal genre, but the more I listen to it the more I'm seeing this record is just an exceptional standout - unlike a band like Decrepit Birth (whom I also think are great) there aren't really wild solos thrown in overtop of the riffing, but everything just seems to fit/flow/blend together in the songs without seeming intrusive to each other.
And the bass playing is some of the best I've ever heard. I've never dug Augury at all but the bass playing on this is just out of this world. Plus the drummer doesn't use triggers or any of that shit, which I like.....
