Demonical played MDF last year and I also caught them in NYC at Saint Vitus with one of the best live sounds I've ever heard. That sound bloke is amazing _________________ www.mendicantmusic.com |

That Reveal LP stands out for me for being pretty catchy and original compared to most new bands ripping off entombed. |

Honestly though, that's about it for me. I've heard lots of these new dodsmetal acts and many have seemed good at first but virtually all of them ended up being forgettable after a few spins.
I'd rather go see a lot of these bands live than buy the records at this point. |
I think some of them would be more memorable if there weren't five million of them. The three you just mentioned have a lot less of a crowd to drown them out. _________________ http://unspeakableaxerecords.com |

I'm sticking with Tormented as the best of the new crop. Closer to thrash than many of the others, in my opinion they write far more memorable songs than most. If I listen to Rotten Death in the morning, the songs are stuck in my head all day. |

I want to really like the revival of ALL death metal (only care for Disma and Cruciamentum) but I find myself incredibly bored with it in general. I don't understand the hype around Repugnant either and comparing it with old Entombed or Unleashed. Maybe I'll check out some of the recommendations that NK7 suggested. |

Agreed! I think you can hear a pretty strong Scream Bloody Gore/old Slayer base on their songs. Graveyard Lust didn't disappoint either! _________________ Alone Wankyng |

I really liked Fatalist. Not Swedish, but they had that sound. |

But that was before I heard VANHELGD. Fuck, how can anyone sound so traditional but still so fresh at same time. It sounds so swedish, but also have hints of Paradise lost and Asphyx, |
Indeed. Vanhelgd has a unique sound and is one of my favorite NWN bands.
I like some of the other newer Swedish bands, e.g., Bastard Priest, Miasmal, and Maim, just to name a few. However, Vanhelgd brings something fresh to the table, and that's what sets them apart for me. |
their church of death titletrack is SO GOOD!!! argh, have to spin it right now. |

Kaamos were the best out of all the newcomers. Tormented most probably are the most promising ones at the moment, but let's not forget they're the other half of Edge of Sanity and Dread was the person who was writing most of their death metal parts. Their latest EP is really good too, nearly as good as Rotten Death imo. _________________ Sic transit gloria mundi |
