Absolutely not! Sounds nothing like Filosofem.

OK, I must be wrong then.

Drudkh's first album definitely. This Hate Forest track might as well be a cover of Decrepitude too:

Maybe some Evilfeast. Similar dream-like, mystical atmosphere, quite melancholic but then some galloping stuff too.

"Jesu Död" style galloping drumming'n'all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIneXsj2tpM

The title track of the album is pretty much a total "Det Som En Gang Var" rip-off though:

Goddamn awful, as all recommendations in this thread. Maybe not Abyssic Hate but I don't hear much Filosofem in it at all.

You're all serious about this shit? I mean I see these "RECOMMEND ME EXACT SAME SOUNDING ALBUMS/BANDS AS MY FAVOURITE ALBUM blah blah" threads all the time here. Fuck me sideways...

I can't quite believe people just eat this stuff right up. It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous. I don't know why I have the Abyssic Hate album.. but as far as I'm concerned it's right down there with the absolute worst of DTL and other similar bands with the charm of TV static. Must be an Australian thing.

This entire sub-genre should be trodden under foot.

Is this a good time to bring up Watain lifting the riff of Jesus Tod on their Lawless Darkness album?

Those surface-level imitations are really embarrassing. Burzum always seemed like very personal and therefore very unique music, so trying to clone the instrumentation and expecting similar results shows the complete lack of understanding for music most of these shit bands have.

The only thing I've ever heard that somewhat reminds me of Burzum's 'vibe' are some tracks on Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works II.

Good one, but more in the vein of the first two albums.

The best bands inspired by the monotone ambience of Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Filosofem are probably Paysage d'Hiver and Branikald.

GNOME from Japan. Second demo, Under the Black Moon. Silent Scream compilation of all material is recommended to get. In my opinion, better than anything Burzum has ever recorded.

No way. But that compilation is great! Still looking for the first Gnome demo.
