I can only think of Bergtatt (Ulver obviously), which I believe is written in Old Norse as well as Ildra written in Old English.

Any other bands that do this sort of thing?

If you’re interested in buying a classic Slayer album, try “South of Heaven” instead, or if you’re into a more modern, melodic appraoch, go for “Diablous In Musica”. Aviod this one.

Doesn't Wardruna sing in Old Norse? I vaguely remember reading that somewhere.

Bergtatt is not Old Norse, it's old Danish. Not as old. Arckanum uses archaic Swedish, at least on the early stuff, I don't really know. Pest - Daudafaerd looks like Old Norse to me.

White Medal is some kind of rural Yorkshire dialect I think, not centuries old.

Ealdulf and Ildra use Old English. Forefather has done a couple of songs in Old English. I saw a band on Barghest's website called Isenscur who seem to use Old English album titles but I don't know about the lyrics.

Then there are the bands that use Proto-Germanic (e.g. Wulkanaz), common ancestor of both Old Norse and Old English. But that's a reconstructed language so it doesn't really count.

Aren't the lyrics for Heimdallr from Enslaved's Vikingligr Veldi an excerpt from Gylfaginning in Old Norse?

(Technically not "their" lyrics though so kinda irrelevant?)

For sure. Not sure what the hell any of it means but I think it adds an interesting layer to their overall "deal", if that makes sense.

Live around the Penines (like I did) for a bit and I'm sure you'll start to at least get a vague idea of what he's on about. Very nice area too, and if you're into your serial killer history, its around the Saddleworth area where Moira Hindley and Ian Brady carried out many of their murders.

There's plenty of places where they still talk like that e.g Barnsley, where I lived for a couple of years.

Cool, I was not aware of this. Also my lack of understanding might have a bit to do with the fact that I'm from the US, where we don't "go on about" things as much as we're "all, like (fill in the blank)".
