Of Overkill's two greatest contribution's to 80's American thrash, which album better represents old Overkill and which one do you think is better in terms of musicianship, intensity, or just a better album overall? I added Under the influence for those that wanted a third option, no Years of decay since its shit. _________________

Never properly checked out Overkill.
Feel The Fire seems the best from what i've sampled though. _________________ "If noise means uncomfortable sound. Then pop is noise to me" - Masami Akita. |

| I've been playing a great deal of Overkill's catalog over the last month as it has been ages. "Feel the Fire" is still one of the best records ever recorded. |

Taking Over!
Under the Influence was kind of terrible, the 2 that followed (The Years of Decay & Horrorscope) were way better. |

Overkill is one of my all-time favorite bands, and the first two albums are as good as it gets for thrash. Very hard for me to choose between the two, but I went with Feel the Fire because of the brilliance of the title track and the song "Overkill".
Feel the Fire definitely shows the band's classic heavy metal influence, with obvious nods to Maiden and Priest, among others. Blitz also had a much deeper voice on the debut than the higher-pitched screech he became known for.
Taking Over is just a balls-out, ass kicking thrash marathon from start to finish. It doesn't let up for a second, and leaves me feeling bruised and battered after listening to it. When people ask me what 'thrash' is, this is one of the albums I point to. _________________ Evil Is As Evil Does... |

They're ALL great. Love Overkill. Blitz has been cool as shit all the times I've met him, real down to earth. DD is kinda dicky, maybe because we always give each other shit about football (Fuck the NY Giants).
Horrorscope is their all time best. Years of Decay is great too, the first I heard by them at the young age of 11.
Not a huge fan of the late '90's-early 2000's stuff but the last two have crushed.
Still one of my favorite live bands to see. |
