|

These two bands hardly get mentioned on the forum these days when discussing German black metal from the 90's. Both played Non-Norwegian based black metal and had more in common with bands like Mortuary Drape or Samael. It would be nice to see both of these realized on vinyl one day.
Martyrium "L.V.X. Occulta" complete album:

Eminenz "Demons Awake" from Exorial:

exorial was boring. the heretic was far better.
l.v.x. occulta is a great album with a difference but it's not that "easy" to listen through the whole album. |

Martyrium was great, and so was Tha-Norr (they were german afaik). I'll definitely check out Eminenz when I have some time. _________________

I'm way more into Exorial than the Heretic. The drumming or the drum production on the Heretic is really strange. _________________ The only email I have access to is nwnprod (at) gmail (dot) com. I do not have access to my old Yahoo addresses.

Martyrium is really good. I've always been more into unconventional black metal than the Norwegian stuff, but I overlooked that band for years until I ran across a recommendation for them that cross-referenced the Drape (always my personal favorite). It was worth digging up the CD. _________________

check out this song by traumatic voyage from 94. quite a german outsider band. strange mix of black and death.

don't know why they're on a peaceville sampler from that time but I always liked this song. |

Both were plain mediocre. Eminenz kept namedropping Mayhem and that gig they played with them in every interview around and somehow the trick worked since quite a few people bought that Lethal Recs cd of theirs just to see "what the band that supported Mayhem sounded like" (mind you this was in '94-'95 when people were drooling over literally anything had the remotest tie with Norwegian bm). Martyrium were only marginally better but still basically irrelevant unless you happened to be a completist of the genre, as a matter of fact they were turned down by pretty much everyone back then and the cd was a regular presence in the bargain sections of mailorders. German black metal always was (and still is) a big joke.
And no I'm not "trolling" nor "derailing the thread", just stating my honest opinion on those bands -no need to overreact if you disagree. _________________ Permabanned |

| That Eminenz track, "Jesus wept nevermore" kind of reminded me of early Bethlehem. Anyway, pretty cool track. |

Martyrium was great...never bothered to check out Eminenz, always thought they were considered crap (or mediocre at best) and listening to a couple of tracks on youtube didn't convince me to rectify that.

I agree with you about Eminenz (although i like Exorial) but Martyrium ??? Are you complete mad dude !!??? This album was something completely different and new at the time. This was the most structured chaos ever. No band made such an album before. Did you really hear this one intensivley and not only as a background while painting your living room or something like that ??? LVX Occulta forever !!! Those total morbid rythms and even more morbid riffs caught me at once and i got totally possessed !!! _________________ GOOD TRADERS : Vandreren , black sun, Kelkum, Gravelander , Division Lycanthrop, goat_lord, Kakarot SS5, S.P. |

Never heard of these bands before, but I quite like what I hear.
