I really enjoy Rites of the Black Mass (though I like the demos even more /kult). Really enjoyable black/death, parts remind me of Deicide or even "war/bestial" metal.
Is anything else from this band worth checking out?

Everything up to and including Anti God, Anti Christ is mandatory. Those who have risen and the last two records are still decent though. One of my fave bands ever, I was actually hoping this would be an appreciation thread or a poll for the best album.

Lex Talionis was solid if not botched by a billion fucking intros and interludes. I haven't heard anything else other than Lex and some stuff off of Rebirth. Decent band

| This thread finally got me to check them out. The idea of death metal and keyboards appeals to me (as long as it's not huge faggy orchestra hits/Children of Bodom). So far the songs have been pretty damn great. The keys are used tastefully. |

Acheron is far from being "death metal with keys". Intros aside, there's only one record in which they used keys massively and thats Those Who Have Risen, everything else is old school black/death metal with a strong Black Sabbath influence.

It does sound similar and it's truly a wicked album, but if I were you I'd avoid those hideous GZ reissues and try to find the original cd press on Lethal Recs. There's one on discogs for €12 right now.

Agreed. Some good songs but the vocals are a bit much for me. |
