This might be a bit of and odd one, but bear with me. Priest and Maiden went through some dark days in the 90's, both losing their classic singers, releasing albums that where largely panned by both fans and the press. I've recently heard people argue that the treatment The X Factor got was undeserved. That it was actually one of Maiden's strongest efforts since Seventh Son. Much stronger than Fear of The Dark. So how do these albums stand up today and which are the best of "the unwanted four"? |

Easy choice since X Factor and Virtual XI are one of the best Maiden albums in my opinion. Never cared for the Ripper era Priest albums. |

Man On The Edge is better than both Priest records. And Angel... and Nostrodamus. |

Upon seeing the thread title, just for a fraction of a second I thought that maybe BLAZEMAIDEN and RIPPERPRIEST were some obscure black thrash bands. _________________ §:-«l |

I can somehow understand it if diehard fans have a soft spot for X Factor, there's still The Sign of the Cross and a couple of decent songs on that one, but Virtual XI? Seriously? That album is by far Maiden's weakest output ever next to No prayer, there's may be one or two tracks that would perhaps make decent B-sides for a 12" but that's about it. _________________ Permabanned |

Blaze easy for the X Factor alone. Great album. _________________ English adviced by Richard Johnson

Uncreative. How about getting your head chopped in half by Eddie? |

I agree here. X Factor is somewhat enjoyable but maybe a little too long. Virtual XI doesn't have much of anything going for it. |

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a Maiden fanboy and love all their releases. The only song on Virtual XI I don't really like is Angel and the Gambler. The Clansman, The Educated Fool and Lightning Strikes Twice are among the best 90s Maiden tracks imo. |
