Just read that myself. I hope it's good! I like all their albums, even the last, underrated one "The Heritage." Great band.

Feels a bit strange to get a new album of a band which has only the singer as an original member...
I never was too keen on PROTECTOR anyway....

That's interesting, I didn't realize that was the case. All new band as of 2011 apparently, except for Martin Missy - who wasn't even on the last two Protector albums. What a weird circumstance. I'm suddenly a bit less enthused for this than I was. Still worth checking out though, I really like all their stuff (including & maybe especially the early material with Missy on vocals).

On further review, that band really had a LOT of line-up changes. Kind of surprising they stayed so consistent while swapping out band members one after another. The only common member from "Golem" to "Shedding" (just two albums apart) was the drummer, and as of "The Heritage" he was also gone (RIP) along with yet another member. That's Napalm Death-level craziness, especially now that Martin has apparently come back and built an entirely new band yet again.

from MA:

"Martin Missy founded the cover band "Martin Missy and the Protectors" in Sweden in 2006. They have been playing old Protector songs since then (also songs after 1989).

In August 2011 the members of The Protectors recorded a 4-track-rehearsal which they released on the 8th of October 2011 under the name Protector. This date marked the rebirth of Protector."

wtf haha...

I don't know, this sounds like they haven't even tuned their guitars. We'll see, but chances are high this will be another unnecessary reunion that ruins an intact legacy.

The cover from the upcoming LP looks great, though.

they sound like a demoband and simply dont have the skills protector had on their early releases. this was raging deathrash... that EP doesnt get anywhere near the power of that.

But they are a killer live band! hope they do a tour to support the album!

It's too bad the version of the band that did the Resurrected demo never recorded a proper album.

That vinyl rip is disastrous, made by some autistic retard that doesn't even have a functioning turntable. Apart from the that demo/7" is OK. the split 7" that came afterwards was pretty cool. This could be something good but it's not really Protector at the end of the day, just some dudes from Sweden with Missy on vocals.
